Troy Bolton is a character in the Disney Channel Original Movie, High School Musical. He is one of the main characters, along with Gabriella Montez, Sharpay Evans, and Ryan Evans. Troy is played by actor Zac Efron.
In the movie Troy is an all-star basketball player for the East High Wildcats. When a new girl (Gabriella Montez) comes to East High, he begins to pay more attention to her than basketball. Troy becomes Gabriella's best friend throughout the movie, and ends up being a singing partner with her in the school's musical production. At the end, Troy finds a way to be a part of the basketball team along with singing and being with Gabriella.
