King Mufasa, an African lion, is the secondary tritagonist of Disney's 1994 animated feature film, The Lion King. He briefly appears in the film's 1998 direct-to-video sequel, The Lion King II: Simba's Pride, as a ghost in the sky, and lastly The Lion King 1½ in 2004.

Mufasa is the father of Prince Simba, and the wife of Queen Sarabi. Once the King of the Pride Lands, Mufasa is murdered by his jealous younger brother, Scar, who, after tricking Simba into running away, takes his brother's place as King.

Mufasa is voiced by James Earl Jones.

He is inspired by Hamlet's father from William Shakespeare's play of the same name as well as Panja in Osamu Tezuka's anime, Kimba the White Lion.
